What to Expect at Your Medical Appointment
Expect your first appointment to take about 60-90 minutes. You will be asked about your medical and social history. Follow up appointments are shorter.
EXAM & TESTS
Your doctor will order blood samples and conduct exams. Your doctor might do some other tests, such as a skin test for tuberculosis (TB).
We will recommend vaccines to prevent other problems, such as pneumonia and the flu.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your medicines with you to your appointment and your medical records if you have them. Let your doctor know of any over-the-counter medicines you are taking. Bring your insurance information and a photo ID.
WHAT TO SAY
Be honest with your doctor. Tell your doctor all your symptoms and health concerns so that you can get help for them. Also, mention if you use alcohol or drugs since they can affect your treatment.
Don’t be shy. It’s your health and you should understand. Ask your doctor about any questions you have You can also bring one family member or friend to support you.
