What makes ‘pride’?
When it comes to self-talk we can be our own toughest critic. The definition of self-talk is the act or practice of talking to oneself, through internal dialogue. Self-talk can be negative or positive. Negative self-talk can be self-limiting and it can undermine one’s self esteem. Excessive negative self-talk can exacerbate feelings of stress, depression and anxiety. Positive self-talk is a powerful tool for increasing your self-confidence and curbing negative emotions. Positive self-talk can push you closer to achieving your goals and objectives.
When faced with excessive negative self- talk consider:
- Being mindful, catching negative self-talk when it starts.
- Changing the story, where is the negative self-talk coming from?
- Avoiding falling into the compare-and-despair rabbit-hole, your situation is unique to you.
- Challenging your inner rock star, focus on the ways you rock.
Pride is where self-talk, self-esteem and self-love meet. Happy Pride
