March 27th and 28th, Lionel Hillard, Community Advisory Board Member and Karin Petties, Executive Director of Government Relations, represented Prism Health North Texas at the 2017 AIDSWatch in Washington DC.

Petties and Hillard provided data and information in support of HIV funding and programs to members of Congress; including Senator Ted Cruz, Senator John Cornyn, Congressman Marc Veasey and other representatives from various parts of Texas.

Both also attended the third annual Elizabeth Taylor Legislative Leadership Award reception where Representative IIeana Ros-Lehtinen (Co-chair of the HIV-legislative Caucus) and Senator Chris Coons were recognized for their leadership and support of HIV related issues. Elizabeth Taylor’s grandchildren were at this event representing the foundation.

AIDSWatch is organized by several organizations, including AIDS United. Prism Health North Texas has been a member of the AIDS United Public Policy Committee for several years where key policy issues are discussed and drive recommendations for national strategies.
