LifeWalkers Shine Bright
The glitter has settled.
With refracting light, songs of gratitude, and the sound of a community cheering together, LifeWalk 2017 was wrapped up last night, Thursday November 2nd.
Over the past 5 years, almost two million unrestricted dollars were raised by LifeWalkers – 2 million dollars going to empower turning points in peoples lives.
LifeWalk is Prism Health North Texas’ annual AIDS 5k walk/run and festival. The event kicked off in May, the walk happened on Sunday, October 1st, and was wrapped up with the Shine Bright Wrap Up Party. This year LifeWalk raised $445,735 for state of the art medical care in North Texas.
LifeWalk 2017 also marked a very important milestone for one LifeWalk team, Guys & Dolls. This year the Guys & Dolls team crossed the $1,000,000 mark for funds raised through their team’s collective efforts. This group of friends has raised money since 1996 – 21 years! Together they started Miss LifeWalk, now hosted by Prism Health North Texas, garage sales, and Art Shows & Silent Auctions.
The monies raised from LifeWalk benefit some of the most vulnerable populations of North Texas. Prism Health North Texas utilizes a personal, integrated care plan helping to ensure every individual who enters the space has their needs met and are provided the best chance at achieving their health goals and reaching viral suppression.
LifeWalk boasted over 100 teams and over 1,000 individual participants. LifeWalk saw donors give from as far as California and New York. LifeWalk participants traveled from Weatherford, Texas and Cedar Springs brought together by the commitment that the thousands of individuals living with HIV in North Texas deserve the best medical care.
Prism Health North Texas performed over 3,400 HIV tests in 2016. As a member of the AIDS Clinical Research Trial Group, Prism Health North Texas participated in 28 research studies – including being the first PrEP study site in North Texas.
Thank you everyone for a wonderful LifeWalk 2017!
